What should I do if my child has covid symptoms?

Call your doctor if your child has a fever, cough, trouble breathing, sore throat, belly pain, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, dizziness, or just doesn't feel well.

If my child has covid symptoms but does not have Covid what should I do?

If symptoms are mild your child may come to school unless your child has a fever.  A child must be fever free for 24 hours without the assistance of fever reducers before returning to school.  If you are still unsure please refer to the health screener at

https://healthscreening.schools.nyc/

Students should complete under signing in through DOE employee or student using their mystudent NYCSA account email.  If you do not have an account please contact the parent coordinator for assistance.

Otherwise sign in as guest.

My child contracted Covid and we quarantined for 10 days and have no symptoms however, he/she/they are still testing positive for Covid.  What do I do next?

An individual who has contracted Covid-19 may test positive for Covid for 90 days.  Answer the questions on the health screening to see if your child is cleared to return to school.  If your child is not cleared to return to school, you must contact the school and connect with your doctor to learn what to do next for your child's health.  Please provide the school with documentation from your doctor.

Where is my take home Covid test?

Take home covid tests are provided to families who have a class closure due to Covid.  The tests are an option to use to test if your child has Covid if you are not able to secure an appointment for testing with a medical center.

The take home tests are not 100% accurate.  How is this an option to test our children?

The take home tests provided to you by the DOE are a Risk Reduction measure in response to the difficulty in getting an appointment with a medical center to test for Covid.
